Correctional Services

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is a federal government agency that contributes to public safety by managing federal prisons of various security levels across Canada for offenders sentenced to more than two years in jail. The CSC also supervises the safe transition of offenders into the community

For provincial offences, in British Columbia, the Corrections Branch of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General operates correctional centres with several levels of security and control for individuals awaiting trial or serving a provincial custodial sentence of two years less a day. The Corrections Branch also operates probation offices across the province to facilitate offender programs, supervises court orders and oversees conditional release programs.
